Equality Impact Assessments

An Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) is a tool for ensuring that we do not discriminate and that we promote equality and take action to address inequality. EIAs enable us to thoroughly and systematically analyse our policies, services, functions and strategies, so that we can understand and minimise any negative consequences, and maximise opportunities for promoting fairness.

EIAs also help MVDC meet the requirements of the Public Sector Equality Duty.

You are likely to require an EIA if you are:

  1. Planning or developing a new policy, service, function or strategy
  2. Making changes to an existing policy, service, function or strategy that are either substantial or that will have a major impact on a particular group
  3. Planning a budget change
  4. Undertaking a service review

The Equality Impact Assessment template and the accompanying Equality Impact Assessment guidance were refreshed in April 2023 to help you complete an EIA.

All completed EIAs are published on the MVDC Equality Impact Assessment webpage.
