Changes To National Restrictions And Shielding

In February the Government published a road map out of national restrictions. This included changes to requirements for people who are shielding. Due to low infection rates it is now confirmed that from the 1st April people in this category are no longer advised to shield. This means that employees previously advised to shield are able to undertake work away from their home, where it is not possible to undertake the work effectively remotely.

Managers are advised to ensure that suitable risk assessments have been undertaken for clinically extremely vulnerable employees, including Occupational Health Tier 2 Risk Assessments where appropriate. This will ensure that suitable measures are considered and can be put in place to further support clinically extremely vulnerable staff to conduct their job. Please speak to your Business Manager for advice and guidance on risk assessments for shielding employees or contact HRAdmin for information about Tier 2 Risk Assessments.
