This Summer, Mole Valley District Council is launching a new, weekly Community Lottery.  Lottery tickets will cost £1 and for every ticket bought, 50 pence will go to local good causes. The lottery prize jackpot is £25,000.

Income received through the lottery will be used by either MVDC or the local community to invest in climate change initiatives to help reduce carbon emissions in the district, for the benefit of residents, businesses, visitors to the area and the wider environment. Players would have the choice when purchasing a ticket to either support a specific good cause or an environmental initiative. Almost two thirds of the money raised from ticket sales would go towards social and environmental activities, with the remaining third split between sourcing prizes and administrative costs.

Councillor Claire Malcomson, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “I am so proud to be launching our lottery this year.  We’ve all had it tough and to be able to announce such a fun and fantastic new project for 2021 gives me great pleasure. 10p of each ticket sold will go directly into a fund for our environmental projects and we are inviting local good causes, (they do not have to be charities), to sign up too so they can benefit as well.
