Liability Cover Certificate

Occasionally the Council must produce evidence of its insurance to third parties. The document below can be printed out and sent to third parties as evidence of our liability insurance. In the event of any query, please use the contact details above.

Motor Claims Procedure

In the event of an incident, the following procedure must be adhered to:

  • the driver must stop at the scene and take the contact details of any other party involved and, if possible, witnesses and pictures of the damage to both vehicles if possible;
  • make notes of the circumstances including an accident diagram and the registration number of any other vehicle involved;
  • complete and provide the third party section of the notice of incident form to any third party that has suffered injury or damage (this has LB Sutton’s contact details for the third party to contact LB Sutton directly if they wish to make a claim). If the third party is absent, you must leave the third party section of the notice of incident form on any third party vehicles involved in an incident with one of our vehicles;
  • do not discuss liability or blame and make no offer of settlement;
  • complete the motor claim form and email to insurance@sutton.gov.uk
  • own damage – obtain at least two competitive quotes for the repair work (if you have an approved repairer only one estimate may be accepted provided the costs are reasonable). If you have an approved repairer please provide LB Sutton with their details;

Please keep copies of the notice of incident form in your vehicle.

Commercial Property Claims Handling Procedure

The majority of Mole Valley’s commercial properties are insured by Zurich, and have been added to Sutton’s Property policy. (Please see below for ‘high value properties’).

High Value Commercial Properties

A number of high value properties are insured under a separate policy. They are : Dorking Sports Centre; Leatherhead Leisure Centre; Game; Quadrangle; Swan Centre / Swan Centre Car park.
