Get involved with The Great Big Green Week

The Great Big Green Week, taking place between 24 September to 2 October is the UK’s biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.

And this year, there are two ways that you can get involved next Tuesday (27 September):

Make a pledge

Pledge your way to a more sustainable future!

Between 1 and 3pm in the staff breakout area in Pippbrook, Lottie our Sustainability Officer will be asking you to make a two-month pledge to reduce your carbon impact. Your pledges will be written on the window, so please help us fill it!

Sustainability isn’t just about carbon reduction but using it as an opportunity to make lifestyle choices that support your health and wellbeing.

Lottie will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have about climate change, as well as recommending her favourite sustainability books that are well worth a read!

You can also make a pledge online.

Lottie will also be visiting Park House, The Fairfield Centre and Dorking Halls in the coming weeks.

Lunchtime biodiversity walk

With a healthier lifestyle in mind, why not come along to our lunchtime 45 minute biodiversity walk with Estelle and Alex?

Alex has a fountain of knowledge on the subject and will talk about how nature-based solutions can help us meet our goal of carbon neutrality; what a nature recovery network is and how MVDC fits into the wider government vision to reconnect nature.

Sounds interesting right? Make sure you come along – meet outside reception at 12noon, on Tuesday 27 September.

Also…

This Saturday (24 September), between 9.30am and 3pm in St Martin’s Walk, Dorking, Circular Dorking a business, and community-led initiative to help create a better place is holding a free family launch event. Visitors will be able to explore stalls demonstrating ideas on sustainable living and eco-friendly shops will be displaying their products.
