We are aware that Royal Mail staff plan to strike on:
• Friday 26 August
• Wednesday 31 August
• Thursday 8 September
• Friday 9 September
How will the MVDC postal service be affected?
Royal Mail has advised that letters will not be delivered on strike days. As a result, MVDC will not have a delivery or collection of mail on these days, commencing with Friday this week (26th August).
On the days when strike action is taking place, Royal Mail has indicated that it will:
• Deliver as many special delivery and tracked 24 parcels as possible
• Not deliver letters (with the exception of special delivery items)
Items posted the day before, during or in the days after any strike action are likely to be subject to delays.
DX remains unaffected.
For this week then, staff are encouraged to get post out on Wednesday. After that, we can expect postal items to be delayed.
Spencer will still check if there is any incoming post for MVDC at the Dorking Sorting Office on Friday morning.
In the week commencing Monday 29th August, Monday is of course a Bank Holiday. On Tuesday, incoming post may still have been affected, but Spencer will collect any postal items from the Sorting Office and we will despatch post as normal that day.
In the week commencing Monday 5th September, please bear in mind that two strike days are anticipated at the end of the week. Spencer will still collect incoming MVDC post on the morning of Wednesday 7th September and take post for despatch from MVDC to the sorting office at the end of that day. However, any post going on out Wednesday 7th September is not likely to reach its destination until the following week.
