Shine Awards

Shine Awards go to Jane Coldbreath, John Menlove, Andrew Heard, Elin Darbo-Egan and Spencer Mitchell.  They were all nominated by two members of staff who said “wow – what an incredible achievement to get the Print Room moved from the basement at Pippbrook to the Mezzanine and none of that would have happened without the fantastic efforts by Jane, John, Andrew, Elin and Spencer.  This has not been a straightforward project from the start and has required many months of planning and several weeks of moving and heavy lifting. Even on the day of the move, the stair crawler brought in by the contractors to move the two print machines (which weigh well over a tonne) broke down. After much fetching and carrying, some weight lifting here and there and Herculean efforts all round, the print room is now located in its new home and for the first time in 20 years Spencer can see out of a window.  Thank you to Jane, John, Andrew, Elin and Spencer for your hard work to get this job done. You all thoroughly deserve a Shine Award.”

And, this is the first time we have had a double-nomination, in that, another member of staff also nominated Andrew and Elin who said “I would like to nominate Elin and Andrew who orchestrated the move of the print room from the basement to the mezzanine. This project has taken months to complete – involving the reorganization of the filing, managing teams of volunteers to move rubbish from the basement, liaising with Spencer and arranging for all the printing equipment and associated paper etc to be moved from the basement to the mezzanine. It has been a stressful project but completed successfully. Without Andrew and Elin this would have taken much longer and may never have happened. Spencer now has a room with a view! A job well done.”
