Last chance to respond to ONS consultation on the future of population and migration statistics in England and Wales
Launching an ONS consultation earlier this year, the National Statistician Professor Sir Ian Diamond said that “we have reached a point where a serious question can be asked about the role the census plays in our statistical system”.
If you use population, migration and social statistics please make sure you have your say on how ONS proposals to move to an administrative data-based system meet your needs compared to the current system based on a ten-yearly census.
Your input will be essential evidence in making a recommendation to Government. In particular, it is really important that the ONS understands your needs in terms of topics, frequency and the geographic level at which you use their statistics. For example, very local, local authority level, England only or Wales only.
There’s only ten days until the consultation closes on 26 October 2023 so please respond now.
The consultation is easy to complete and is available in English and Welsh.
