Update and Blog from Mike Lea

I wanted to update you on some news that I have decided to leave Mole Valley District Council after an incredible few months of leading the transformation team. It was not an easy decision as it is an amazing place to work and we have made so much progress over the time I have been here.

However, in terms of the time to leave it felt right to make the move now as we have reached a major milestone in the Evolve 26 journey. After the intense work over the summer bringing all of your ideas together into our 8 major themes, we are now finalising the approach to sign off with cabinet. SLT have worked hard to build up the business cases and the estimated savings are positive showing us a way through the financial challenges ahead. Our engagement with members has also been really supportive and a real shared sense of purpose in making sure we do the things that make this council sustainable. The next couple of months will be about further shaping the ideas that you put forward and locking in our transformation programme in the November cabinet.

The next stage will be about delivering the change, which is why Seonaid and the team have taken the opportunity to make some subtle changes to the role I performed for Mole Valley District Council. We have gone to advert this week looking for a change delivery manager and do come and speak to us if it would be of interest or you know of someone who may be good for the role.

I leave the council on 20th October, so do come and see me if there is anything you need before I go. I am going to Hampshire County Council to a permanent role leading their back office HR function which includes providing services to a large number of partners. I have a huge love and affection for Mole Valley District Council and that is largely down to all of the people I have worked with over my short time here. I will continue to take interest in your transformation and know it will continue to go from strength to strength. Thank you all for so warmly welcoming me and being so willing to engage on change.
