The Development Management team and the Planning Support team have turned around performance when deciding planning applications.
Between April and June 2021 only 29% of the main types of application were decided within the timescales required by the government. This was caused by a huge backlog of planning applications during Covid.
Between April and September 2022 that figure has improved to 97%. This is an incredible achievement recognised by the Cabinet member at full council and by SLT.
Piers Mason, said, “Personally, having worked in development management for 25 years, I didn’t think that scale of improvement was possible. It shows what dedication and teamwork can achieve and keeps the government inspectors away from the door. Amazing job by everyone involved in getting planning applications up and running and through to issuing decisions.”
