Volunteering day at QEF

On Wednesday 5th October staff from the Corporate Governance and Strategy and Finance teams took up the opportunity under the Volunteering Scheme (you can take up to two days a year) to volunteer at the Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation in Leatherhead.  The Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for Disabled People is a charity that works with both children and adults with physical and learning disabilities or acquired brain injuries to help them gain new skills and increase their independence, helping them to achieve their goals for life.

They were asked to tidy up the garden within the residential complex – an ongoing job as you can imagine!  During the day we weeded, cut the grass, trimmed the hedges and pruned the plants.  This meant that the garden was much easier for the residents to navigate round and enjoy.

Despite a sudden downpour we had a great day; it was lovely to spend a day together and be doing something worthwhile!
