It is with sadness that I bring the news of the passing of our previous colleague, Clive Smitheram, who died last week at the age of 76.
Many of us have fond memories of Clive when he worked at Mole Valley as our Community Safety Officer after his retirement from the Met Police.
He had a dry sense of humour, a quick wit and a huge heart.
Clive was always very involved in his community, an active member of Epsom Rotary Club and his local church. He was a Councillor in Epsom and Ewell for over 20 years (and was still so when he died) and served as Mayor there in 2010/11.
He is survived by his wife Gill and a son and daughter.
A Thanksgiving service for Clive will be held at All Saints Church, Church Rd, West Ewell, KT19 9QY on Thursday 19th May at 2:30pm. As Clive knew so many people, the church is expected to be very busy. If you would like to attend the service, please make sure your manager can release you – to avoid disappointment it is best to book the time off in advance.
