Procurement Training Sessions

Horsham District Council are currently rolling out procurement training for all the councils in the Shared Service

They have two sessions (Basics and Fundamentals) coming up, details of which are below:

  1. Procurement – The Basics – Thursday 20 January 11am – 12 noon (for Horsham, Mid Sussex and Mole Valley staff)

This course is ideal for anyone who is new to procurement and wants to understand why procurement is important and some of the basic principles and rules.  The course lasts an hour:

  • What is procurement and why it is important
  • The Rules
  • Aggregation – things to consider
  • How to determine what procurement route to follow – practical steps
  • An overview of sustainable procurement and modern slavery
  • Contracts – the basics
  1. Procurement Fundamentals – Thursday 27 January – 10.30am – 12 noon (for Mid Sussex and Mole Valley staff)

This course is ideal for those that have some experience of procurement but want to refresh themselves.  It covers similar content to the Basics course but we go into a little more detail.  It will give a reminder of the rules and governance as well as an update on what’s new in procurement since Brexit, Covid and plans for national procurement reform.   The course will last approximately one hour and 15 minutes with an additional 15 minutes for questions.

The course will cover:

  • The basic rules of procurement – a refresher
  • Aggregation – things to consider
  • Sustainable Procurement – how to deliver more for the community of Horsham
  • Modern Slavery in our supply chain
  • Supply chain issues
  • Contracts and Contract Management – supplier annual checks and best practice
