We could not have delivered our three elections on 6th May without the incredible support from the team at Dorking Halls.
From early January this year, Michael and Dan got immersed in our election preparations, assessing every single one of our 57 polling stations to ensure they were Covid secure. They sourced a most bizarre shopping list of items for us ranging from signs, hand wash, tissues, red sacks (aka bags of doom) and even household bricks.
But it did not stop there, all of the tech team got pulled into the swirl of election activity as well – arranging the delivery and collection of polling booths, signs, lights, Covid goody boxes, as well as the collection of 150 ballot boxes and 57 heaters by our Presiding Officers, all executed with military precision.
And then they were all on hand on Friday and Saturday after polling day, keeping the troops fed and watered and silently orchestrating the massive clear out from our two count venues; always with good cheer and a sense of humour.
We are immensely grateful for the unfailing and steadfast support from the Dorking Halls Team…Massive thanks to a very “shiny” group of people.

Thought I better explain that using the litter picker was a joke – only problem is, with masks, you can’t see that we were laughing!!!
That did make me laugh! Well done Dorking Halls, I really appreciated your good humour over the election period both as Poll station staff and during the count, this award is richly deserved!
