27. I have spare capacity – what else can I do to help residents during this time?

If you have spare capacity please speak up.  We need you. It may have been identified already that the demands for your role are less needed through this current time.  This does not mean you are not needed.  There are a whole variety of things you could do depending on your technical knowledge, skills or potentially other factors such as whether you are DBS checked, can drive, etc.

You may be asked to do things to help colleagues in MVDC – e.g. if they have increased or different demands in their own team, or to cover a short-term sickness period.

At times like this the whole public sector pulls together so it is also possible your skills could be very much in demand elsewhere locally.

For example – have you got general admin, stewarding or driving skills to help with the national vaccine roll out? Please see here for details of how to volunteer to help in any spare time you have.

From time to time we may be asked to give details to Surrey Strategic Commissioning Board so that they can pull together teams to assist public sector partners including the NHS.

There has never been a better opportunity to broaden your professional expertise, widen your network and improve your skills without the risk of changing employer or your terms and conditions.  There will be no change to your terms and conditions during this period – we have no time or ability to conduct formal redeployment processes, we all need to pull together in the most practical ways that we can.
